St Johns gives Leeds Baby Bank a home
We read in the Yorkshire Evening Post about the charity’s plight to find new low-cost premises following the ending of its lease at St Catherine’s Business Complex in Bramley. We contacted the charity to offer it an empty shop unit on the first floor of the shopping centre.
Leeds Baby Bank provides vital support to struggling families in and around Leeds in need of urgent baby essentials such as nappies, wipes and formula milk. Families are referred by health professionals and social services. The charity also sources baby equipment and clothes.
The charity, founded by Lynsey Jayes and Chantal Nogbou, was looking for safe and secure premises as it has recently been targeted by burglars. It was also keen to have a central base with good parking and transport links, so St Johns is ideally situated.
Leeds Baby Bank is currently moving into St Johns and will be open for public by end of April at the latest. The charity will be holding an open house day on Saturday 19 May 11am to 2pm for the public to come and have a look and find out more about volunteering.
Leeds Baby Bank is holding a black-tie charity ball on Saturday 29th September 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Leeds to raise funds for their work. Anyone wishing to buy tickets or donate prizes should email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
