Community Sponsorship

At the beginning of each year, St Johns chooses a charity that is close to our hearts to support and fundraise for. Throughout 2024, we are proud to be supporting two brilliant charities: NSPCC and Age UK.

St Johns Announces Charity Partners for 2024

St Johns Shopping Centre, Leeds is delighted to announce that two outstanding charities have been selected as their charity partners for the year 2024. Following a public voting campaign on Facebook, the NSPCC has been chosen as the ‘People’s Choice’ Charity Partner, while Age UK has been selected as the ‘Local Needs’ Charity Partner. The public voting campaign in December saw an overwhelming response from the local community, who voted to determine the ‘People’s Choice’ Charity Partner for 2024. The NSPCC, a renowned charity advocating for children’s rights and protection, emerged as the clear favourite among the public. St Johns will be joining forces with the local charity to raise awareness of their invaluable work in safeguarding children and ensuring their well-being. Katy Scott, NSPCC Supporter Fundraising Manager – North East, Yorkshire & the Humber, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen by St John’s for its Charity of the Year, following the centre’s support for many of our campaigns. We’re proud to have our North East and Yorkshire hub located in the heart of Leeds city at the St. John’s Centre, we’re excited about the on-going partnership and look forward to exploring new possibilities of working together to help keep children safe and free from abuse in West Yorkshire and throughout the north of England.” What is more, based on the insights garnered from the recent Leeds Local Needs Survey, which aimed to identify areas that require focused assistance, Age UK has been named as the ‘Local Needs’ Charity Partner for 2024. Through the partnership, St Johns will support Age UK in supporting older adults, promoting their well-being, and addressing the challenges they face. Throughout 2024, the centre will collaborate closely with both charities to help raise awareness of their respective causes, drive fundraising efforts, and encourage community engagement. The partnership will involve a variety of initiatives, events, and activities designed to educate, inspire and mobilise individuals to support these important causes. Andrew Stringer, St Johns’ General Manager, said: “We are really proud to be working with two incredible charities that make a real difference in our community. By partnering with both NSPCC and Age UK we’re hoping to address the challenges faced in our immediate community and hope to foster real community engagement throughout the year.’
